Performance exhaust systems.

What's the difference between the M-2, C4, M-5 or M-7 V.A.L.E. canisters?

All of the canisters perform and sound the same, they are simply different styles. For instance the M-2, C-7 are a small oval, the C-4 is round and the M-55 is a large oval canister. All M-Series (M-2, C4, M-5 and M-7) canisters have the same high performance stainless steel core and high temperature packing material and thus will produce the same amount of performance gain.

What canister will look best on my bike?

The general rule of thumb is on smaller bikes (600cc’s) the M-2 small oval looks better and on larger bikes (750cc’s +) the M-5 large oval looks best. For those who like round exhaust canisters, we offer the C4 round.

Why should I buy an aftermarket exhaust system?

There is no easier or more cost effective way to add performance, style and great sound to your bike. Next to the oil and tires, the exhaust system is probably the most commonly replaced item on a bike. More horsepower-get the power you've been craving for. Weight reduction-the lighter your bike, the faster it can accelerate. Increased safety-a deep and throaty exhaust note allows you to shift "by ear" rather than taking your eyes off the road to look down at the tachometer.

Why should I buy a Two Brothers Racing exhaust system?

While Two Brothers Racing enjoys the legacy of being a successful Honda factory backed AMA Superbike team and winner of multiple national championships, we now fully devote ourselves to the design, manufacturing and production of the most technically advanced exhaust systems that you can buy today. All of our exhaust systems are hand made under our roof in Santa Ana, CA USA.

Are aftermarket exhaust systems street legal?

No, a common misconception is that some aftermarket systems are legal while others are not. Currently no City, State or Federally approved motorcycle aftermarket exhaust system exists in the U.S. market. Our exhaust systems are for racing purposes only.

Full, slip-on or flange-on exhaust system, what's right for me?

For riders wanting maximum performance from their bikes there is no better way to achieve it than by installing a Two Brothers Racing exhaust system. This not only adds horsepower but drops unnecessary weight from the bike. We offer slip-on and flange-on exhaust systems and full systems for select models. Your specific bike will determine whether you want a slip-on, flange-on or full exhaust system. Our knowledgeable sales staff will assist you there.

Do I need a jet kit?

Need? No. Want? Probably. A Two Brothers Racing exhaust system will almost never cause a bike to run worse than it did with the stock exhaust system. However the addition of a jet kit or Power Commander will improve performance and rideability on most models. Performance gains vary among bikes, ask us what’s right for you.

My bike is fuel injected, do I need to make any adjustments or chip changes?

Generally fuel injected bikes automatically compensate for exhaust and engine related modifications very well. Unless you are building a Superbike motor with over 30% horsepower increases, your stock FI system should work just fine with your new exhaust system and you will reap the benefits immediately. We have however found that with the addition of either a Juice Box™ or a Power Commander with the proper map, the ride-ability of the bike will improve greatly over that of the stock bike and there can be additional performance gains to be had. We carry our own signature Juice Box Fuel Controller and Dynojet Power Commanders for most fuel injected bikes and we can also furnish it with a map just for your machine and our pipe.

What do Two Brothers Racing exhaust systems sound like?

All of our canisters are louder than stock, but not obnoxiously loud. Our exhaust systems are designed to produce a deep and throaty exhaust note. Our canisters have a reputation for being one of the quietest “straight-through” systems on the market today.

Are replacement parts available for my Two Brothers Racing exhaust system?

Yes, we produce and/or assemble every component of every exhaust system under our roof in Santa Ana, CA. This enables us to provide you with the parts you need to repair/replace just about anything on or related to your exhaust system. There are too many small parts to list in our catalog, so in the unlikely event that you damage a part please call us and we will have what you are looking for.
 

Are Two Brothers Racing canisters rebuildable/repackable and how often do I need to do this?

Yes, all Two Brothers Racing canisters are rebuildable. The length of time between repacks varies depending on the type of riding you do and the type of bike you own. Inline fours and sixes are generally very easy on the packing material while singles and big twins tend to be harsh on the packing. We’ve seen sport touring bikes with over 60,000 miles on the mufflers where the packing looked as good as new while we’ve also seen big superbike twins with lot’s of track time burn through the packing in less than 2,000 miles. If you need to repack your canister(s), repack kits are available (one repack kit per canister). The kits come with new rivets, packing material and a drill bit (#30) to remove the old rivets. We also provide the service and it typically runs $25 per canister plus parts.

Do you furnish exhaust port/engine gaskets with your systems?

No. As with most engine related components that are sold, gaskets are a separate item. We do try to stock exhaust port gaskets for the most popular applications however.


Juice Box™ Fuel Controller Questions

What is the difference between a Juice Box and the Power Commander?

We sell both Juice Boxes and Power Commanders. Both products do a similar thing but in different ways. The Juice Box is designed for customers who want a simple and cost effective fuel injection solution to increase the performance of their vehicle with as little effort as possible.

The Power Commander III and V
• Costs $359 which is $60 more than the Juice Box br> • Does not come pre-programmed with a map to maximize performance of TBR exhaust systems
• Does require the use of a computer to make adjustments
• Maps can be downloaded from online and loaded into the Power Commander using a computer
• Tuning is complicated so it is recommended to be taken to a Dynojet Tuning Center for tuning with Dynojet's Tuning Link Software which typically costs another $300-$400
• Increases horse power
• Improves throttle response
• Improves smoothness while cruising
• If the Power Commander is faulty, the vehicle will not run until the Power Commander is removed from the vehicle
• Does not have Load Based technology to increase performance while maintaining fuel economy
• Is semi plug and play with OEM style connectors but does require wire tapping the TPS wire with the risk of damaging the OEM wire
• Has thousands of cells in a spreadsheet that each have to be adjusted to adjust the vehicles fuel curve properly

How much more horsepower can I expect by using the Juice Box?

The amount of horse power that can be added by a Juice Box or Power Commander varies greatly based on vehicle model and modifications to the vehicle. Both products can be used to put the right amount of fuel into the engine to maximize horse power and torque. There is no easy answer to this one.

What do the modes on the Juice Box do? Are they fuel saving modes, race modes and street modes? Which mode should I run it in for the best performance?

The Juice Box has adjustment modes that are used to make adjustments. It does not run in these modes nor can the user select what mode to run it in. The user can only select what mode to make an adjustment to. The Juice Box makes changes to the vehicles fuel curve in real time all the time based on these adjustments. The Juice Box calculates the engine load and adjusts the fuel curve based on the settings in each of the adjustment modes. If the Juice Box is visible while the vehicle is being operated, the operator will notice that the Juice Box LEDs (or lights) will change colors and the number that are illuminated. The number that are illuminated indicates the engine load. For example: 4 LEDs illuminated means the engine is approximately 50% loaded; 6 LEDs indicates approx. 75% load and 8 LEDs indicates approx. 100% load. The color of the LEDs indicates what Juice Box fuel circuit is active. There are 3 standard fuel circuits indicated by the three colors. Green=Cruise, Yellow=Acceleration, Red=Full Throttle. The colors can also be equated to carburetor tuning. Green=pilot jet, Yellow=needle jet, Red=main jet. You can adjust how much fuel is added by each of these fuel circuits by pressing the mode button in order to enter the green, yellow or red adjustment modes.

Is the Juice Box adjustable and for what reasons would I ever need to adjust it?

Yes the Juice Box is adjustable. The Juice Box does not need to be adjusted because it is pre-programmed to maximize the performance gains of a TBR exhaust system. However, it can be adjusted if other modifications to the vehicle require it. The Juice Box is pre-programmed for the most common TBR exhaust system fitted to each model. The TBR slip on system is the most common and the Juice Box is pre programmed for the TBR slip on system. If a full system is fitted to a vehicle, the Juice Box will need to be adjusted for the full system. The full system settings are included in the Juice Box instructions. We cannot test with every possible modification for each model of vehicle so we cannot always recommend new settings. However, the explanation of the adjustment modes in the instructions should give the user the knowledge they need to make adjustments. Or they can take it to a dealership that is familiar with the Juice Box technology and have them adjust it. 99% of the time, the Juice Box does not need to be adjusted.

I get popping on deceleration. What should I adjust on my Juice Box to fix this issue?

90% of the time, deceleration popping is caused by an exhaust leak. Check all the joints on the exhaust system for any air leaks. A lit cigarette can be held around each joint to watch for air blowing the smoke around. If there is an exhaust leak, fresh air enters the exhaust stream and mixes with hot exhaust gases and unburnt fuel and ignites causing the popping. The second most common cause for this condition is the "fresh air system" or "Post Air Injection" aka PAIR system. This is an emissions system that allows fresh air from the air box to be sucked into the exhaust stream right after hot exhaust gases exit the exhaust valve into the exhaust header. Any unburnt fuel in the hot exhaust gases can mix with the fresh air and ignite in the pipe causing the popping in question. Essentially, it is an intentional exhaust leak in order to burn off unburnt fuel before it is released into the atmosphere. The stock exhaust system is so quite that it generally cannot be heard. With any aftermarket exhaust system that is usually louder, the ignition of this mixture can be heard as popping. Most modern vehicles turn their fuel injectors off during deceleration. This can been seen on the Juice Box when you see the number 1 LED flash green and the number 8 LED flash red during deceleration, this means the injectors are off and no fuel adjustments can be made by the Juice Box. Popping does not occur during this time because there is no unburnt fuel in the exhaust stream. The injectors only turn back on if the throttle is opened or when the engine speed comes close to the engines idle speed in order to keep the engine from stalling. The Juice Box should not be used to correct this issue as it will only create another problem in another part of the fuel curve.

The Juice Box instructions say it is programmed for my slip on and a stock filter but I have an aftermarket filter. What adjustments do I need to make?

Aftermarket air filters do not require adjustment to the Juice Box.

How do I know how or when I need to adjust it?

Don't fix what aint broke. Only if there are noticeable performance problems, should you consider adjusting the Juice Box.
